Nehemiah Project
The ministry is best described as “watchmen on the wall”. In 2005, one of our members was asked by our pastor to start a ministry that would keep track of our members so that none would “fall between the cracks.” She chose to call this “The Nehemiah Network” based on the Scripture from Nehemiah 4:19.
“Then I said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, ‘The work (rebuilding the city walls) is extensive and spread out, and we are widely separated from each other along the wall”.
Each of Calvary's families were divided among the thirteen members who comprise the team. Our goal is to be aware of their attendance or absence. If they are not present at worship for two consecutive weeks we call and let them know they were missed. If there is an illness or need, we offer to pray with them and ask if they would like their name added to the prayer chain. Contact is often made between team members and those in their care on Sunday mornings. Letters and encouraging cards are sent from time to time.
The team members meet three times a year to share experiences and to celebrate what God is doing among us. All feel very blessed to be a part of this ministry.
