Guatemala

For the past 11 years, Calvary has partnered with the mission organization Food for the Hungry International, in visiting and supporting the indigenous people of Guatemala.

Our interest began with our youth raising money to support monthly, a 9 year old girl named Marcela who lives in the remote mountainous region of San Cristobal, Guatemala. Since that time members and friends of Calvary have financially supported hundreds of children like Marcela. Food for the Hungry sees to it that these children have school supplies, regular medical checks, and their parents are offered better farming practices and parenting skills using Godly principles from His Word.

Each year a small team from Calvary has the unique opportunity to work in these poor communities holding Bible classes with the children, building homes and schools, digging latrines, and breaking rocks for roads. For many of us this has become the highlight of our yearly calendar. We believe that God has blessed us and allowed us to be part of this ministry to continue to encourage these great people and build upon the relationships that have been established.
